"Celebrities" makin' twats of themselves back in the day.

I got into Hip Hop via the 'Breakin' craze in the early '80's , even back then though you would've been considered a twat in my neighbourhood if you had dressed like Pop'N'Taco's alleged boyfriend, Michael 'Boogaloo Shrimp' Chambers or his spindly armed, parachute pant wearing  accomplice, Adolfo 'Shabba Doo'  Quiñones. Like most of the U.K. we rocked the traditional Fat Lace Sneaker/Sweat suit (as I assume our American counterparts referred to them as) B-boy style and shunned the Prince entourage 'look'.

Anyhoo, here's a few celebrities making clowns pockets of themselves in the name of the 'Breakdancing' fad. Remember this is just a bit of fun and nostalgia.

I was havin' a mooch round the old interweb and I happened across this nifty Roxanne Shante character from laddette writer extraordinaire , ROSY ONE. As far as I'm concerned she busts some of the best 80's influenced B-Boy/Girl characters out there, period!!!!

 

Keep on truckin'?

I've just been on vacation and had time to reflect on the recent closure of  my Mediafire account and weather or not my heart is still in this bloggin' hoopla or not. And to be perfectly honest, I don't know. Times have a-changed in the old blog game and most certainly not for the better, and sometimes I just plain can't be bothered. I have a life outside in the real world and only started this shit to cross paths with like minded people, and on that score it's mission accomplished.

But, you know what? I'm just gonna play it by ear and not make some grand dramatic statement on how I'm done with this blog for good or some over the top shit like that. There's another Mista WARZ Disco Scratch takeover show in the pipeline so I'm gonna stick around at least until then.

But in the mean time.....

Shit happens

It appears a certain ginger DJ (not Cut Chemist btw) has been googling his own name and happened across a few of his musical endeavours posted a year or so ago on this here blog. Anyhow, instead of asking me to take 'em down which I would have happily enough obliged, he elected to put in multiple takedown requests to Mediafire instead. (Oddly using his real name and Email address, maybe he was flirting? hahaha). The result? Mediafire suspended the account, not that I'm particularly bothered as Mediafire has been crap for a long time now.

Old ginger bollocks can now sit back and bask in his victorious glow having struck a defiant blow like a wrathful early '90's Hip Hop artist on a street corner bootlegger, crushing those counterfeit cassette tapes under his avenging Timberland boot.

 

The long and short is there are now a shit load of dead links, but y'know, shit happens.

DJ Junk ‎– The Best B-Boy Tunes

Apologies for the crap image, but what are ya gonna do, huh?  If you was a fan of Junk's 'Breaker Breaks' series then this should be right up your strasse, old bean. The unimaginative title aside, this is a fine collection of those uptempo break gubbinz that those B-Boy chaps are fond of.  These days I can barely manage a top rock without my knee's exploding in arthritic agony, but obviously you don't have to be a breaker to appreciate this heady stew of cuts, scratches, beats, breaks and samples.!!!!

The Takeover

Warz Takeover Show #1

You may or maynot be aware of Waxer's 'Disco Scratch Show', a shining beacon of humour and true school Hip Hop that is broadcast on Thursday evenings at 9-11pm (UK times). Many moth's are drawn to it's funky fresh flame including regular listener 'Wild Styles' very own 'Patti Astor'.

And the chatroom that runs alongside the show is indeed some of the funniest banter and drink fuelled double entandres I've ever witnessed.

Alongside the UK's hardest working host, Waxer, there are the monthly takeover shows put out by  LG from Style Warrior and The ABU Takeover show hosted by Repo 136 from Ageing B-Boys Unite Blog, each adding his own unique take on Hip Hop.

 

Last night I stepped into the lions den and did a takeover show of my own that, judging by the feedback, went over quite well. A multitude of technical ball aches could've seriously rained on my parade but I was suprised at how many of the regular Disco Scratch faithful stuck with it.

Big up to all those that tuned in you know who you are and especially to Waxer for giving me the oppurtunity.
